SILVER WATCH FACE
Watchmaking techniques
The sunray effect creates subtle light reflections on many of the dials of the Oyster Perpetual collection. The method uses expert brushing techniques to create grooves that extend outwards from the centre of the dial.
Light is diffused consistently along each engraving, creating a subtle, subtle shade that follows the movement of the wrist. After completing the sunray effect, the color of the dial is applied using PVD (Vacuum Coating Technology) or electroplating. A light layer of lacquer is the final coating of the dial.
OYSTERSTEEL
Strong corrosion resistance
Rolex uses Oystersteel for its steel watch cases. Oystersteel was developed by Rolex and belongs to the 904L steel family – the most commonly used alloy in the high-tech, aerospace and chemical industries, where maximum corrosion resistance is essential.
Oystersteel has excellent strength and takes a brilliant shine when polished, maintaining its beauty even in the harshest environments.
