Craftsmanship combined with high technology
The colors created for the Oyster Perpetual range begin with lacquer, which must be carefully applied in an atmosphere-controlled environment to keep out dust and other contaminants.
The dial’s bronze baseplate is coated with six layers of lacquer to create a uniform, even surface. The final step is varnishing and polishing to bring out the full brilliance and depth of colour. The various inscriptions are then transferred into stamped detail, and the hour markers and crown are hand-milled. The dial, gleaming perfectly, is ready to be assembled onto the movement in the watch assembly stage.
